Roadie #42 crashes the Barcelona press conference

17.6.08 - Barcelona

The crew is running entirely on espresso today. I sneak along to the press conference in a nearby swanky hotel. When we get to the rather impressive and imposing foyer, there is a gent in a suit at a grand piano playing a lounge jazz version of Trouble. Given my level of sleep deprivation, it seems wonderfully twisted. Lord only knows how the band manage to be so affable and approachable throughout. The wit and good humour flows and soon the press conference is done. Just a gig to do and a flight back to London. See you at the BBC!

Check out Will Champion’s Mini Movie

Filed under: Will Champion — Nettie @ 7:12 pm

WILL’S MINI MOVIE ONLINE

Head over to Coldplay.com to check out a brand new addition to the timeline. During gaps between drumming duties, Will has put together an intriguing short film made up from over 600 pictures taken in the studio. Pictures like these:

Once you’ve watched it, check out Prospekt’s latest journal entry, which he posted last week giving the latest update on the band’s new album.

Among the other recent additions on the timeline, head to 1999 to hear rare audio footage of Coldplay chatting to Steve Lamacq before their first ever BBC Radio One session. They sound extremely nervous.

And don’t forget to keep checking back to Coldplay.com for new content - they’re adding at least two items a week.

COLDPLAY.COM IS BACK!

Filed under: Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion — Nettie @ 1:32 pm

Head over to www.Coldplay.com to check out the brand new Coldplay website. Based around a timeline of the band’s history, the site is designed to keep you entertained until they return with their next album.

All four members of Coldplay have been heavily involved in the re-design of the site. Their hand-written accounts will accompany each of the entries on the constantly-expanding timeline, for which the band have opened up their extensive archive of flyers, pictures, videos and audio recordings.

We hope you like it.

Football In Brazil 27th Feb 2007

Filed under: Will Champion — Nettie @ 7:17 pm

Maybe it was ambitious to try and play football against a team of Brazilians; we did well until they brought on their star players - the rest was a bit embarrasing.

A Christmas card for people to laugh at.

I think it’s imporant to not take oneself too seriously, otherwise things just get boring.

Square One At The Brits 15/02/2006

Having performed averagely at the Grammys a few days earlier, we felt we had a bit of redeeming to do.

Thankfully, it was a much better experience. Awards Shows are hard, TV shows are hard, Awards shows on TV are a nightmare.

Garden State “Don’t Panic” 10/12/2004

Filed under: Will Champion — Nettie @ 4:46 pm

Its not often that I find myself listening to movie soundtracks, but this one was so great and it was a great film

Zach Braff is a talented man and a lovely chap. Our songs aren’t on many films, but it was an honour to be in this one. Also it might be the only time we get to be on an album with Nick Drake.
